At the Hiroshima City Manga Library, you can enjoy manga while also tracing manga's history. The library systematically collects, organizes and preserves manga and manga-related materials, housing a collection of over 100,000 pieces.
The library allows visitors to peruse and borrow classic manga or manga magazines, as well as a wealth of materials for manga research.
In addition to providing a range of manga-related materials, the library also holds events, including exhibitions and lectures, intended to promote the development of manga culture.
Since the year Heisei 10 (1998), the library has held a "Yearly Best Manga Prize" contest, serving as a venue for professional and amateur manga artists of all ages to present their works.
Also, the area around the museum is famous for its sakura (cherry blossoms).
