JMSDF Kure Museum

The Japan Maritime Self Defense Force Kure Museum (commonly called the Iron Whale Museum) is Japan's first museum to display an actual giant submarine on land. The museum introduces the historical relationship between Kure and the JMSDF through historical materials such as the development of submarines to present day and the records and actions of minesweepers. Visitors can also climb aboard an actual dry-docked giant submarine. Inside are reproductions of some sections in a submarine, such as the captain's cabin and wardroom, and areas where you can experience underwater life and environment. It's a valuable museum that allows visitors to see, touch, and experience a submarine's structure.
