During the reign of the fourteenth emperor, Chuai, tens of thousands of foreign troops came to attack Japan.
Among them was a powerful general called Jinrin. He had wings, which allowed him to fly freely on a black cloud. Using supernatural powers, he ravaged villages and provinces and killed many people. No one was able to stop him. Finally the emperor decided to go himself. He ordered his retainer, Takamaro, to accompany him as a guard. On the sixth day, the emperor was informed that Jinrin had appeared to attack him. Protected by the divine virtue of Amaterasu Omikami (the Sun Goddess) and holding the holy bow and arrows, the emperor confronted Jinrin.
They fought a fierce battle, but finally the arrow shot by the emperor hit Jinrin, who fled far beyond the clouds, and the tens of thousands of troops pulled out of Japan.
